Submission Guidelines and Other Things Worth Knowing
Because the process of elimination begins
before the first word is read
Passages North, the literary
journal of Northern Michigan University, has published short fiction,
poetrymarginalia
#2! “A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a
homesickness, a lovesickness.” - Robert Frost (I just like the
part about the lump), and creative nonfiction since 1979.
- We read submissions from September 1st through April 15thWarning #1!: not an excuse to file your taxes late!.
- All manuscripts should be typed, double-spaced and accompanied
by a self-addressed stamped envelope. (Poetry submissions should
be single-spaced.)
- Submit one story or essay, up to six poems, or as many as three
short-shorts at a time.
- Include a brief cover letter with contact information: address,
phone, and/or e-mail.
- Simultaneous submissions are fine. (Please notify us
immediately if the work is accepted elsewhere).
- Payment for accepted work is two copies
of Passages North.
