Welcome to Passages North Online

Passages North is an annual literary journal sponsored by Northern Michigan University. It's put together, edited and loved by a bunch of volunteers, mainly faculty and students, who love good literature and love sharing good literature.

Passages North Online is its internet extension, and somewhat goofy alter-ego: a spectacular wreck of webcode and half-realized aesthetic vision meant not only to offer our visitors a sample of the material that appears in the printed journal, but to inform about the various goings-on related to our journal and to generally amuse and entertain and brighten days!

What's New With Us

What's Past . . .

March 19, 2007 - We'll post our Elinor Benedict and Thomas Hruska contest winners next month. Looking ahead to reading for the Waasmode Short and Just Desserts Short-Short contests in 2007-8.

March 15, 2007 - "The Ides of March, remember . . ." We remember that last March, we hiked out to the Eben Ice Caves which any tourist to the U.P. would be remiss to miss. This year, it's all slop, so save your airfare and snowmobile gas for next season.

June 01, 2006 - Acting Webpage Guy stopped by to add a new image to the Visual Stimulus page, and to give the general assurance that our little nook of the web doesn't go forgotten in these lazy summer months!

April 01, 2006 - John Pursley III joins our growing list of poets featured on the Verse Daily website. John's poem "Hammerhead on the Atlantic," also in our 2006 issue, was the poem of the day for March 29! Excellent work!

March 28, 2006 - Hat trick! Verse Daily's featured poem for yesterday was "Horse Poetica" by Matthew Thorburn, another gifted poet gracing the pages of our 2006 issue. Our congratulations to Matthew on his gaining some more recognition for his fine work!

March 27, 2006 - Our congratulations go out to Paul Guest, the second Passages North poet to be featured on Verse Daily's homepage in the last week! Paul's poem "The Numbers are Not In" appears in our 2006 issue. We don't have a copy online here, but you can read it at Verse Daily or even order a copy of our 2006 issue.

And along those same lines, we'd like to thank Verse Daily for the link to our humble little site. Every bit of exposure helpsrandom office photo!
